Rita (October 28, 1996 - August 4, 2011)

We said goodbye to our girl Rita today (14 years, 9 months old). Her health started declining about 2 weeks ago - lethargic, not eating, having a hard time getting up...we knew it was time.
Rita was a bit of a loner who liked everyone around. She was sweet. She was bossy. She was smart. She was loyal. She was a beautiful dog.
Two years ago we said goodbye to Bob and now Rita. It's never easy.
I have a scenario in my head that's helping me through it. It goes something like this...
Rita arrives at the happy dog park in the sky. She finds Bob. He is curled up, on a cozy little couch, having a nap. Rita ignores the fact that there is very little space for her and climbs up. Bob growls. Rita nudges him over. Bob growls again. Rita nudges him over again then curls up beside him (and maybe a little on him). Bob sighs. They nap...
The End.

The above photo is of Bob (left) and Rita (right), August 1997. It makes me smile.
Bob will be so happy to see her...I'm positive...pretty positive...

So glad that Rita joined your family. I'm sure there is a heaven for dogs & Bob was there to greet her. I know she missed him when he "crossed the Rainbow Bridge" but now they are together somewhere.
Tears & hugs,

Rita will be very missed. Your words & photo's brought a tear to my eyes, but your scenario brought warmth and a smile as I so agree, see and feel it. Bob & Rita together again, with Rita back in charge. Big hug to all of you, the great memories you have will slowly take that heavey loss feeling away and left with all those great good/bad memories...do you remember when Rita did......

Oh Karen, I'm sooooo sorry for loss. This remembrance is so tender and fitting, the photos are wonderful.
I saw a psychic not long ago who as soon as the reading started said the spirits of two dogs had joined us -- her cat meowed and meowed until he finally had to be shut in a bedroom; she said the dog spirits had agitated the cat.
She also informed me that when animals pass their spirits revert to the age at which they were their happiest and healthiest. She said she saw Punch and Judy as youngsters chasing each other around, having a ball. I'm sure that's what Bob and Rita are doing right now. I'm sure they're grateful for all the love you and your family showered on them during your time together. God bless you and God bless Will.
