"What kind of dog is that?"

A couple of weeks ago we found out what kind of dog, our new girl, Kate is thanks to a cool Canadian company called dnamydog. For a small fee and a simple cheek swab DNA test they can determine the genetic makeup of your furry friend. We found out that Kate is a mix of Border Collie (no surprise there), Bernese Mountain Dog (?) and German Shepherd (?) added with a little Rottweiler (???) and Beagle (?). Perhaps her great great great grandparents rode the rails during the great depression (and why not:)?
So now, the next time we're at the dog park and asked what kind of dog is that?, we'll have the answer. Most likely I'll be dishing out the short version - she's a Border Collie mix...or maybe I'll offer up my colourful version - she's a Border Collie mix who's great great great grandparents rode the rails during the great depression.

Whatever her 'pedigree' Kate is loveable and hopefully inherited the healthy genes from her varied ancestors.
And, If her ears perk up when the whistle blows you'll know ... .

Definitely Beagle-Border Collie. I see lots of beagle in her.
