I've been thinking about getting prints (24"x36" posters) made of my Queen of Hearts with The Mona Lisa Smile for a while now. A couple of weeks ago I started the process rolling...
The first challenge was getting her off our wall and into a studio - she weighs 100lbs...
The next challenge, thankfully wasn't mine, was getting her photographed. Mosaics are very difficult to photograph - especially this one. She's big. She picks up lots of crazy light and reflects it everywhere and she's full of intricate 3D details. All of this wasn't a problem for Toronto based photographer, Bill Drummond, who worked magic with his photographic and photoshop skills...With a great shot in hand I was onto the next part of the process which was easy and fun (for me); choosing the right fonts and laying everything out...
With a great design;) in hand I was off to The Printers. Maracle Press is one of a few printers in Oshawa that does offset printing (lucky me - so close to home). They worked their printing magic and produced a 24"x36" print of The Queen of Hearts with The Mona Lisa Smile that I'm very happy with. Prints of The Queen of Hearts with The Mona Lisa Smile will be available soon.

Throughout recorded time the Queen of Hearts has represented many different personas. Traditionally in cards she is seen as unconditional love - the idealized woman so the Queen of Hearts with the Mona Lisa smile adds a compelling intrigue to her many myths :)
The poster is a great idea.
